Welcome to Mirning Green Energy Limited (MGEL)

Mirning Green Energy Limited (MGEL) is a not-for-profit, Aboriginal-owned company established in 2021 by WA Mirning People Aboriginal Corporation (WAMPAC).

MGEL was created to manage a 10% shareholding in Western Green Energy Hub (WGEH), a proposed renewable energy project on Mirning Country, on the far south coast of Western Australia.

MGEL exists to ensure that any benefits flowing from the WGEH project are managed in a way that supports the long-term economic, cultural, and social development of the Mirning People.

about the project

The Western Green Energy Hub (WGEH) is a proposed large-scale renewable energy development on Mirning Country in Western Australia

If approved, the project footprint would sit on more than 15,000 square kilometres of Mirning Country in the south-east corner of Western Australia across the Shire of Dundas and the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

The full-scale development would produce 70 gigawatts of wind and solar energy per annum.

The energy produced would be used to create green hydrogen and ammonia for export, positioning Australia as a global leader in clean energy production.

WGEH is a joint venture between international energy developers and Australian partners, with Mirning Green Energy Limited (MGEL) holding a 10% shareholding alongside InterContinental Energy (46%) and CWP Global (44%).

The project is still in its early stages and is subject to approvals, Indigenous Land Use Agreement (ILUA) negotiations, and environmental and planning assessments.

MGEL’s role is to manage its shareholding and explore opportunities that may emerge from the project, ensuring long-term benefits for the Mirning People if the proposal goes ahead.
